Toyota first introduced the new-generation Fortuner in 2015. The SUV is already 3 years old and is set to receive a major upgrade in 2019. This will act as a buffer before Toyota brings the next-generation model. Besides this, Toyota is also working on the facelift of Innova Crysta. The 2019 Toyota Fortuner facelift is expected to arrive in the second half of 2019. Not just ASEAN markets, the Fortuner will also enter into the North American markets.

The 2019 Toyota Fortuner is likely to be launched for the first time in Canada as well.Instead of introducing the existing model, Toyota would be aiming at giving fresh life to the Fortuner SUV. The updated model will first go on sale in the Asian markets, followed by other countries including Australia and Russia. However, the India-spec model could receive BS6 ready engines.

In India, the upcoming Fortuner facelift will receive BSVI compliant engines. It is expected to be launched in the second half of 2019, possibly around Diwali.

The outgoing Fortuner is available in the price bracket of Rs 27.23 lakh-Rs 32.93 lakh. The India-spec model will receive a BS6 compliant petrol and diesel engines, which will make it slightly expensive than the outgoing model. We expect the new Fortuner to cost between Rs 29 lakh and Rs 35 lakh.

2019 Toyota Fortuner Specifications

The updated Fortuner will continue to feature the existing set of engines, which includes a 2.8-liter GD diesel & 2.7-liter petrol. However, both the engines will meet the upcoming BS6 emission norms. The 4-cylinder, the in-line turbocharged diesel engine is capable of producing 174.5bhp of power at 3,400rpm and 450Nm of torque between 1,600 to 2,400rpm.

While the manual diesel version delivers 14.24kmpl, the automatic model is claimed to return 12.9kmpl. The mileage for petrol manual and automatic variant rated at 10.01kmpl and 10.26kmpl respectively.

Yamaha has launched the Niken in the UK with prices starting at GBP 13,499 which is approximately Rs 12.32 lakh,excluding tax and import duties. You may think the Yamaha Niken has been launched in India.

Yamaha calls the Niken as a Large Leaning Multi Wheel (LMW), considering it gets two wheels at the front and a single wheel at the rear. Although, there are other three-wheelers in the market, what makes the Niken unique is the presence of a lean function which allows the rider to attain higher lean angles while cornering with tighter entry angles and better traction.
